Privacy Policy for BatteryBank Monitor
Effective date: August 15, 2026
Publisher: DeTra Consulting LLC (“DeTra,” “we,” “us,” or “our”)
This Privacy Policy describes how BatteryBank Monitor (the “App”) handles information when you use the App on iOS, Android, or supported desktop platforms.
BatteryBank Monitor is a read-only companion for a BankManager marine battery-bank monitor. It connects over Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) to display live readings and to store history on your device.
If you have questions, contact us at: privacy@detraconsulting.com
(Replace with your preferred public contact email before publishing.)
1. Summary
- We do not require an account or login.
- Battery readings and history are stored on your device.
- We do not sell personal information.
- On iOS/Android, we use Google Firebase for crash reporting and remote configuration (see below).
- Desktop builds may omit Firebase.
2. Information the App handles
2.1 Information stored on your device
The App may store locally (for example in an on-device database or files):
- Battery and related readings received from your BankManager (e.g. lithium and lead-acid voltages, current/amps, percent of charge, connect/disconnect state, timestamps)
- History samples, events, and named datasets you create or import
- App preferences (e.g. chart settings, display time zone, retention choices)
- The name/identifier of the last Bluetooth device you connected to (so the App can offer reconnect)
This information stays on your device unless you export or share it (for example by saving or sending a .bankmanager.json export).
2.2 Bluetooth
The App uses Bluetooth to discover and communicate with nearby BankManager devices. Bluetooth permissions are requested so the App can connect and receive data. The App does not use Bluetooth to track your location for advertising.
2.3 Information we receive via Firebase (iOS / Android)
When Firebase is enabled (typically production iOS/Android builds), the App may use:
| Service | Purpose | Typical data |
|---|---|---|
| Firebase Crashlytics | Diagnose crashes and improve stability | Crash logs, stack traces, device/OS/app version, and similar diagnostic data |
| Firebase Remote Config | Feature flags (e.g. alpha availability) | App fetches configuration values from Google’s servers; this involves standard network/device signals used by Firebase |
Firebase is provided by Google. Google’s processing is also governed by Google’s privacy policies and Firebase terms. We do not use Firebase Analytics advertising features in this App as configured today, and we do not use the App to sell personal information.
2.4 Information we do not collect (as designed)
The App does not:
- Create user accounts or require email/password login
- Collect payment card information inside the App
- Access your contacts, photos, microphone, or precise location for core monitoring features
- Upload your battery history archive to DeTra’s servers as part of normal monitoring
(If you contact us by email for support, we will receive whatever you choose to send.)
3. How we use information
- Provide the App’s features — live display, charts, local archive, import/export, settings
- Maintain and improve reliability — crash diagnostics via Crashlytics
- Operate the App — Remote Config for limited operational flags
- Respond to you — if you contact us
4. Sharing
We do not sell your personal information.
We may share limited data only as needed to:
- Service providers that power Firebase (Google), subject to their terms
- Legal requirements if required by law, regulation, or valid legal process
- Business transfers if DeTra Consulting LLC is involved in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale (you would remain protected under this or a successor policy)
Battery history files you export are under your control when you share them with others.
5. Data retention
- On-device archive: retained according to your App settings and until you clear or uninstall the App
- Crashlytics / Firebase: retained according to Google Firebase retention practices and our project configuration
- Support emails: retained as needed to respond and for ordinary business records
You can delete on-device App data by clearing App data (where the OS allows) or uninstalling the App.
6. Children’s privacy
The App is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.
7. Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict certain personal information, or to object to certain processing. Because most App data stays on your device, many controls are available directly in the App or by uninstalling.
For requests related to information we hold (e.g. support email correspondence or Crashlytics-related inquiries), contact privacy@detraconsulting.com. We may need enough information to verify your request.
8. Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures appropriate to the App (including relying on OS sandboxing for on-device storage and industry providers such as Google Firebase). No method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure.
9. International processing
If you use Firebase, diagnostic and configuration traffic may be processed on servers in the United States or other countries where Google operates. By using the App, you understand that such processing may occur subject to applicable law and Google’s terms.
10. Third-party links and devices
The App interacts with third-party hardware (BankManager) and may open system share sheets or file pickers. Those products and services have their own practices. This Policy applies only to BatteryBank Monitor as published by DeTra Consulting LLC.
11. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Effective date” above will be revised when we do. Continued use of the App after changes means you accept the updated Policy, except where additional consent is required by law.
